Who created power2give?
power2give.org is a project of the Arts & Science Council--Charlotte/Mecklenburg, Inc. (ASC). ASC, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a non-profit whose mission is to build appreciation, participation, and support for the arts, science, history and heritage in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Fractured Atlas took over development and administration of power2give in October 2016.
What happens if the campaign I fund isn't fully funded by the end of its posting period?
power2give.org intends to provide the donations to the campaign poster and host organization even if the campaign is not fully funded. In that case, the campaign posted and host organization will notify you as to how they plan to adapt their campaign.
Can my gift(s) be refunded?
No, power2give does not have the capacity to provide refunds for gifts at this time. However, if you have questions or concerns as to how your gift is being used, please contact the power2give team
What payment options are available on power2give?
At this time, you can give to campaigns on power2give.org via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. All donations made on power2give.org are made to a 501(c)(3) organization. Therefore, your donation is tax deductible. Please check with your accountant to discuss the tax implications of any donor benefits you received in exchange for your contribution.
How am I acknowledged for my gift?
You will receive an automatic e-mail receipt from power2give for your records. You will also receive additional communications from the organization(s) you supported.
What are the donor benefits?
Donor benefits are incentives provided by the campaign poster to give back to the donor in small ways that make them feel even more connected to a particular campaign.
How do I redeem my donor benefits?
The campaign poster will contact you shortly after the campaign has been fully funded or expired to distribute donor benefits.
Is my online donation secure?
Yes. power2give.org has a valid SSL security certificate and works with responsible and verified vendors to ensure your information is safe and secure.
When will my credit card be charged if I use a card to make a donation?
Your credit card will be processed and charged immediately upon payment.
What are the ways I can get involved with a project aside from donating?
You can help promote projects through email and social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and blogging.
Who can post a campaign?
In order to post a campaign, you must fit all of the following criteria: Represent an organization that is located in the City of Atlanta that has received any type of grant or funding from Office of Cultural Affairs in the last five years. Intend to ONLY post campaigns that are considered arts and culture that will take place in the City of Atlanta and have a cost less than $10,000.
What are my responsibilities as a campaign poster?
As a campaign poster, you are responsible for:
Submitting all information and ensuring that it is truthful and accurate ·Marketing your campaigns to your constituencies and potential donors · Thanking donors and distributing donor benefits · Follow up with donors upon campaign completion.
What information is required to post a campaign?
In order to post a campaign, the system requires the following information:
Campaign Title ·Tagline ·Funding Amount ·Campaign Duration ·What categories it falls into ·Campaign’s Photo ·Campaign Video is optional ·Campaign Narrative.
When will I receive funding from my campaign?
You will receive donor contributed funds from your campaign approximately 15 business days after it has been fully funded or its expiration date hits.
How do I know who donated to my campaign and how much they gave?
As donors give to your campaign, you will be blind copied on their thank you email so you will always have a continuous stream of who is donating to your campaign. On your dashboard, you will be able to download a list of all your donors and how much they gave at any time.
What does my campaign duration mean?
The campaign duration is how long you will have to secure funding for your campaign on power2give.org after your campaign is live on the site. After that time period, the campaign will expire and no longer be “active” on the site. The campaign will be removed from the site regardless of whether it has been fully funded or not.
Can I resubmit an expired campaign?
If a campaign has expired but was not fully funded, it may be resubmitted, but we recommend you revise and edit it to try a different approach to receive the full funding amount.
What happens if my campaign is only partially funded upon its expiration?
If a campaign is only partially funded upon its completion, you will still receive the funds raised for your campaign. It is then your responsibility to keep all donors informed as to how the campaign might change as a result of receiving less funding than requested and offer refunds if the campaign is no longer viable.
What happens if I don’t thank my donors?
While donors will receive an automatically system-generated email thanking them for their gift, power2give.org requires all posters to separately send a thank you to donors (either electronically or by mail). By not thanking donors you not only run the risk of losing donor loyalty but also your “good standing” status, which could potentially lead to account deactivation.
Why is there an administrative fee?
As much as we would like our campaign posters and their organizations to receive all of the funding from the site, we still need to cover credit card fees, website hosting costs, marketing materials and support new technology developments to keep the site fresh and current. There is a 6.75% administrative fee that is calculated from the total amount of donor funds received. This fee helps cover the cost of maintaining the power2give platform including hosting fees, development cost, administrative work, and credit card processing fees. There is no percentage taken on the Office of Cultural Affairs matching funds.
Should I account for the administrative fee when I am calculating the funding amount for my campaign or will power2give do it for me?
Yes, you should increase your campaign request to ensure the net funds allow you to accomplish your campaign.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount a campaign can cost?
No, there is no minimum amount; however, the maximum campaign amount is $10,000. Larger campaigns can be divided into phases or pieces if appropriate.The maximum request amount is $10,000 per campaign. For each dollar raised, OCA will provide a $1 match, as funding is available. This 1:1 match will continue until the campaign is either fully funded or expired. The maximum matching grant for each campaign is $5,000. If your campaign expires but has not been fully funded, you may opt to collect the funds you have raised or re-post the campaign (albeit with recommended changes to attract additional donors). For all funds raised on the site, ASC will distribute a check to your organization approximately 15 business days after your campaign‘s final removal from the site—whether it is removed after 45 days or it is removed earlier due to having been fully funded. This check will represent all funds the campaign raised on the site, minus ASC‘s administrative fee. Organizations may receive up to a total of $10,000 in matching funds from OCA, per fiscal year until matching funds are fully exhausted.
What is the timeline of the power2give program?
OCA will enforce a final posting date depending on the fiscal year. All
projects can go live after September 18, 2017, and will expire at OCA's discretion to allow for fiscal year procurement policies.
How many campaigns can I have active on power2give.org at once?
The limit on the number of campaigns you can have active on the site is set by the Office of Cultural Affairs. It is anticipated that each organization can only submit one campaign per 45-day
review cycle. Once a campaign is complete there will be a 30-day waiting period before the organization can launch another campaign.
What if my organization is unable to complete the campaign directly following the receipt of the funds?
If your organization plans to complete the campaign at a later date, please make this clear in the campaign narrative and when you follow up with your donors who have given to the campaign. The tangible connection to the campaign is an important piece of your donor loyalty.
