Atlanta Female Playwright. Atlanta Female Director. Atlanta Female Artists.
About the Project
Winner of the 2018 Alliance Theatre Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab
SAFETY NET is a world premiere production by Atlanta playwright Daryl Lisa Fazio ("Split in Three"), being directed by Atlanta director Karen Robinson, and featuring powerhouse actresses Carolyn Cook, Daryl Lisa Fazio, and Rhyn Saver. The play tells the story of Chris Dove, the first-ever female fire captain in an Alabama town at war with opioids, and she's facing it head-on, heart-out, and under scrutiny. Meanwhile, her spitfire-of-a-mother, Xenia tries to conjure stability with bundt cake and the Bible. When Chris' mysterious childhood friend, Val, crashes into their lives, daughter and mother find themselves at a tipping point between what's safe and what saves. Theatrical Outfit is thrilled to be producing this world premiere with its timely topical theme of the opioid crisis in our country. We are equally excited to be doing it through the lens of powerful female characters, and with an entire creative team of female actors and designers, a female stage manager, a female director, and a female playwright. Funds raised through this Power2Give Campaign will pay for additional rehearsal time for the playwright and the creative team to fully realize this world premiere production. Funds will also support additional marketing being put into place to reach targeted groups for this important and topical new theatre piece.
