An exhibition of interactive art about the intersection between art and games.
About the Project
Last year, a collective of game developers came together to showcase an exhibition of interactive installation art which explored the interaction between games and art. This year, we're looking to expand that one night to a full show, running June 24-August 26 at the Living Arts and Science Center in Lexington. In order to fully realize that dream, we need a few donations.
In addition to hosting this art show, we are going to run a series of workshops for the Living Arts and Science Center about game design and development of digital interactive art that will be open to the community.
Where is the money going?
Our plan is to use the money to help bring some interesting installations from around the world. During the selection process for this exhibition, we've had interested parties contact us from both around the country and the globe about bringing their one of a kind exhibitions to the Bluegrass. We want to compensate our artists, and your donations will help pave the way for that process.
With our space already taken care of, donations can be used to compensate artists. During opening night and the gallery hop, we will have the artists on hand so that attendees can meet and talk with them. Funds will also be used to support classes to teach adults and young people more about interactive installations. We'll be teaching classes about Unity, Twine, and going into how the planetarium works. We will be partnering the Living Arts and Science Center's Demo days, as well as hosting individual workshops.
What is RunJumpDev?
RunJumpDev is a people-powered nonprofit created to grow and cultivate the local game development community in Kentucky. Started in 2012, we have over 50 members and have worked tirelessly to expand the definition of games and art in the community. We host several events each year including the Vector game development conference and the LexPlay convention. Further we have held several workshops for children and adults and work with schools throughout the Bluegrass to develop curriculum and promote the growing game industry.
