About the Project

Theatrical Outfit is deeply invested in how theatre can strengthen Atlanta's communities by starting urgent, exciting, and profound conversations; celebrating the power of live art to bring people together; and recognizing that an active, vibrant culture contributes to a strong, compassionate society. We are making every effort to bring our award-winning programs of plays, community engagement events, and educational offerings back to our downtown theatre home as soon as is SAFELY possible.

As we prepare for recovery from the current COVID-19 crisis, we are mindful of the many preparations that must be made to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff. That means making adjustments to our facility, the beautiful Balzer Theater on Luckie Street in the heart of downtown Atlanta, allowing for social distancing for patrons and staff, and daily sanitizing for all of our spaces, inclusive of the audience chamber, lobbies, rehearsal hall, backstage, dressing rooms, restrooms, and administrative office space. This campaign will support this effort providing valuable funding for supplies, any necessary building materials for lobby adjustments, and personnel. Every dollar you donate to this campaign (up to $2,000) will be matched by the City of Atlanta.

When our community can gather again, we will need the communal power of art more than ever. With the assistance of funding from the philanthropic community, TO can weather this difficult time and emerge from this crisis ready to resume production of the great theatre we are known for: employing exceptionally talented artists; creating opportunities to engage with our community; offering education for young artists; supporting our fellow downtown businesses; and building partnerships with other local non-profits to ensure we are all stronger as we move toward the future.

We are extraordinarily grateful to the City of Atlanta for making this matching gift campaign available through Power2Give.
