We asked how we can help...

About the Project

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our students and their families are facing rent payments, food shortages, health concerns, mental health struggles, and overall feeling disconnected and overwhelmed.

We reached out to our students and asked how we can help. Overwhelmingly, our young members age 12 through 18 told us that besides cash assistance, they need ways to connect with mentors and with their peers. They have so many worries and so many questions, in additions to wanting human connection.

We have reassigned all of our artists and teachers to host online gatherings weekly to bring kids together. We are encouraging families to let us know about any of their needs, whether they need food, financial counseling, internet, or tablets. GBYM is either helping students directly or connecting them with our front-lines partners.

Please help us show love for ALL of our neighbors, especially in an approx. 5-mile radius of Langley Crossroads and Takoma Park. The goal of this limited matching funds campaign is to raise $10,000. With your participation, we will keep paying our artists and teachers while they focus on helping so many young people and their families. Every dollar you donate today will be matched up to our $10,000 goal until the funds run out.

Remember, time is of the essence. During this challenging time of uncertainty, help us be there for our students in their time of need.
