Help ClancyWorks Teaching Artists affected by COVID-19!

About the Project

Since our inception in 2001, ClancyWorks has survived on in-school and after school programming. It has been our joy to provide high quality dance education free of charge to students in underfunded schools.

However, with the outbreak of the coronavirus, our teaching staff is struggling, as many artists are. Like other community organizations, ClancyWorks is practicing social distancing to help slow the spread of the disease. All of our programming requires in person connections, and with schools and senior centers being closed – our staff members are unable to work.

Putting our programming on hold is the right thing to do right now, but it was not an easy decision. At this time of year, we expect to be with our students—conducting classes, and preparing them to perform their dances. COVID-19 has meant that we have lost a connection to our students, as well as income that we would normally get from those classes. Our teaching staff have lost work that they rely on.

At the same time, our hearts go out to our students, who are cut off from their schools, friends, and routines. Experts recommend that people staying home due to social distancing maintain a routine and remain engaged with their normal life. For our students, that means continuing to practice their dance without our guidance and mentorship.

Many arts programs are exploring ways to continue instruction in an online format during social distancing. Nothing can replace the impact of in-person instruction in the arts – we are working on methods we can offer our students to maintain a sense of community and normalcy until they can return to class.

Please donate to our Power2Give Campaign, and help us continue to pay our artists, administrators, and expenses through this crisis. All of your donations to this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact.

With your help, when this emergency is over, we can pick up right where we left off – working with our students to use dance as a vehicle to advance positive social action.
