Partner with contemporary music ensemble, Bent Frequency, to explode marginalized programming in classical music.

About the Project

Founded in 2003, Bent Frequency brings the avant-garde to life through adventurous and socially conscious programming, cross-disciplinary collaborations, and community engagement. One of BF’s primary goals is championing the work of historically underrepresented composers - music by women, composers of color, and LGBTQIA+. Hailed as “one of the brightest new music ensembles on the scene today” by Gramophone magazine, BF engages an eclectic mix of the most adventurous and impassioned players in Atlanta.

BF has partnered with internationally acclaimed ensembles, dance groups, and visual artists in creating unique productions ranging from traditional concerts and fully staged operatic works, to concerts on the streetcar and a band of 111 bicycle-mounted, community performers. BF’s programming, educational outreach, and community events aim to be inclusive of the diverse and dynamic community they are a part of.

Bent Frequency’s 16th season is committed to exploding marginalized programming, bringing you a season loaded with vitality, relevance, representation, and sheer awesomeness. This season will feature collaborations with MINT Atlanta, internationally acclaimed bass Nicholas Isherwood and the Carlos Museum at Emory University, our annual Unsilent Night community event at Arches Brewing in Hapeville, a celebration of the Chinese New (Y)Ear with the Zhou Family Band from China and Georgia State University Confucius Institute, and a featured performance during Atlanta’s SoundNOW Festival.

What will your tax-deductible donation (matched dollar for dollar by The Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs) help to fund?

1) Free or significantly reduced ticket prices for ALL to our 2019-20 season! making contemporary classical music, performed at the highest level, accessible for all in the metro Atlanta area
2) Performance fees for professional musicians, production and advertising costs, space rental, etc.
3)  Amplifying the voices of vital and relevant contemporary composers, largely under-represented, in classical music

As an ensemble that has presented numerous collaborations with arts organizations from across the country over the past 15 years, Bent Frequency is deeply committed to globalizing the Georgia music scene. That is, bringing international attention to the world-class artistic community in Atlanta by presenting important and cutting-edge projects for Georgia audiences as well as by bringing world-class artists to the state.

Enabled by numerous partnerships and your support, Bent Frequency’s many interdisciplinary, community-centered programs and educational events have attracted a large and loyal following, representing a wide range of demographics. Your gift underscores the importance of our season and the need to present diverse and inclusive programming in Atlanta.

Your contribution will be matched $1 for every $1 donated to this by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
Our heartfelt thanks, and Get Bent!!
